Lake County Schools has always believed that because each child is different, parents should have access to educational choices that meet their child’s unique needs. That’s why for years we have supported parents having a wide variety of choices in our district including allowing their student to attend a neighborhood school, a traditional school outside their attendance area with an approved zone waiver, virtual school, charter school, magnet school, dual enrollment programs, advanced placement and special programs such as our Health Sciences Collegiate Academy in south Lake County.

Now, with the recent revision of Florida Statute 1002.31, parents will have even more options starting in the 2017-18 school year. That law directs each school district to develop a controlled open enrollment plan that allows parents from any school district in the state to enroll their child in and transport their child to any public school that has not reached capacity.

In Lake, the Educational Choice Transfer Window is Feb. 1 to Feb. 28, 2017. That’s when you can choose a school and apply to attend. Until then, take a look at the information provided here and let us know if you have questions 352-253-6777.
