CLASS SYLLABUS

Critical Thinking and Study Skills: 1700370

Mr. Lincoln Loucks - LHS

INSTRUCTOR:   Mr. Lincoln Loucks

EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY:  Students are responsible to learn and must embrace the opportunity to learn.  As their instructor, I will provoke thinking and provide an opportunity for all students to learn.  I will challenge my students to become critical thinkers.  The Classroom Creed is, “discipline yourself, so others do not have to.”  (John Wooden).  I will empower my students to discipline themselves.  The classroom theme emphasizing personal responsibility and power over self is the acronym: power over words, emotions, & reactions (P.O.W.E.R.).  I will teach my students to understand the value of this power and the consequences of giving that power up to someone else.  Self-disciplined learners are champions in life.

Dear Students and Parents,

This is a computer based class.  In order to complete this course, it is advantageous, but not necessary, for students to have computer access at home.

Students will receive guided instruction on each lesson which will nonetheless be self-paced.  Every student will have the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and complete each assignment in reasonable time.

I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve my students and their families for yet another year.  I look forward to cultivating the garden in the education arena that is Leesburg High School and the fertile ground that is my classroom.  Learning is expected.  Champions will be grown.
