Today (May 4, 2016)the AFJROTC dedicated a bust of former LHS student Michael Bock. Here is part of the dedication speech presented:
Today we remember a fallen cadet and student. Staff Sgt. Michael Bock. We are joined here today by his father David Bock and his mother Sandra Bock. Thank you all for attending this important occasion. Michael Bock was the example of what being a Marine really means. He served his country proud by defending until August 13th when he was struck down by a snipers bullet. Michael bock was 18 years old when he witnessed the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and that was all he needed to see when he decided to join the Marines and help take down the Taliban.
Because of his accomplishments as a Combat Engineer where he did 4 tours to Iraq and Afghanistan he was given the MOS of 1372- Assault Breacher Vehicle Commander. As an ABV operator he led his team through conflict and that all equipment was kept safe and secure. He is one among many others who have fallen in the line of duty.
He always put the mission first and that is why we are here today. We honor him today as we present the bust of Staff Sergeant Michael Bock and keep this here at Leesburg High School to cherish the memories and sacrifices he gave us over all these years : As a cadet, as a son, as a husband, and as a marine. His career efforts will be recognized today as we thank and remember Staff Sgt. Michael Bock.
We salute you sir. Semper Fi.
The bust is in the Building Five office.
